the many healthful uses of Castor Oil Packs
Castor Oil is derived from the castor bean. At one time, it was common practice to take castor oil orally to alleviate constipation. However, the oil is now believed to be toxic if taken internally. Externally, however, castor oil has a bounty of healthful uses. Edgar Cayce developed what is referred to as a ‘castor oil pack’, which enhances circulation and elimination, much like acupuncture, and promotes the healing of tissues and organs.
How to:
To make a castor oil pack, soak a square of un-dyed flannel, folded approximately 3 times, in castor oil-make sure the flannel is not dripping, place on the affected area of the body and wrap in plastic (plastic bags or saran wrap work well.) Then, place a hot water bottle or heating pad over the wrapped area for 45 minutes to one hour. Wear old clothing and lie on old sheets or towels, as the oil will stain fabrics. Make sure to rest during the treatment time. After removing the pack cleanse the treated area with water mixed with a little baking soda.
The same castor oil-soaked flannel can be reused 25-30 times. Store the flannel in a covered container or closed plastic bag in the refrigerator. However, a castor oil pack should not be used during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or menstruation, and it should not be applied to broken skin.
Here are some of the conditions a castor oil pack can help to alleviate:
It improves liver and gallbladder function by detoxifying these organs and relieving cirrhosis and torpid liver. It also helps to alleviate the pain from gallstones and ease their passing. It also eases inflammation of the gallbladder.
It improves kidney function by detoxifying the body of painful stones and infections.
Castor oil creates beautiful, more youthful skin. By applying it 3-7 times per week to the face and neck at night, individuals have experienced more radiant skin and reduced wrinkles, including crow’s feet. Dab a small amount on the face and neck before bed and wipe lightly with soft facial tissue.

If after the 2nd or 3rd application irritation occurs, take a break for one evening and then continue with the baking soda/castor oil recipe.
